The Seattle Robotics Lab is f ocused on fundamental and applied robotics research across the full roboti cs stack, including perception, planning, control, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and simulation. This research aims to transform resea rch paradigms, transfer into NVIDIA’s robotics and simulation products, an d create new robotics markets for the world.\n\nThe Seattle Robotics Lab h as led many influential works that have been presented at top robotics, AI , and computer vision conferences; these works include BayesSim, cuRobo, D eXtreme, DiSECT, Factory, GraspNet, ITPS, MimicGen, RVT, and SHAC. (See ou r publications page for a complete list.) The work has deeply impacted the research community and NVIDIA products, including Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, a nd Isaac Manipulator. Furthermore, SRL collaborates closely with other res earch and engineering teams to advance and leverage the Cosmos and GR00T-N foundation models, as well as the Newton physics simulation engine. The t eam is targeting several grand challenges in robotics and is aiming to ach ieve never-before-seen capabilities within 2-3 years. We are looking for w orld-class senior research scientists to play a pivotal role in these effo rts, providing both technical leadership and hands-on technical contributi ons. These scientists must have exceptional research and engineering skill s, a proven research track record, strong supporting references, and a tea m-first mentality.\n\nWhat you will be doing:\n\nDeveloping algorithms, mo dels, and methods for robotic manipulation and loco-manipulation, for both industrial and household applications;\n\nIntegrating these methods into real-world robotic manipulation systems, including those consisting of col laborative robot arms, industrial robot arms, mobile manipulators, humanoi ds, and dexterous hands;\n\nCo-leading and contributing to multi-person re search projects that require a diverse set of skills across the robotics a nd machine learning stack;\n\nEngaging with the academic community through high-impact publications, conferences, workshops, and code releases;\n\nC ollaborating with product managers and engineering teams to transfer your research into NVIDIA products that will have real-world impact;\n\nMentori ng interns and more junior research scientists and engineers.\n\nWhat we n eed to see:\n\nA PhD in Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Elec trical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equival ent experience). At least 3 years of research experience after completing your PhD; 5+ years is preferred.\n\nDeep knowledge of both the theory and practice of robotics and AI, with a strong interest in connecting your wor k to real-world robotics applications.\n\nA proven track record of researc h excellence, with work published in top robotics and AI conferences and j ournals such as RSS, CoRL, ICRA, IROS, IJRR, T-RO, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CV PR, ICCV, ECCV, and EMNLP.\n\nExceptional communication, collaboration, an d interpersonal skills, with significant experience working on teams as bo th a leader and a contributor.\n\nExceptional programming skills in Python ; in addition, familiarity with C++, CUDA, and Warp is a plus.\n\nFluency in modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and JAX.
