SUMMARY:Unbound Horizons – Wing Series
DESCRIPTION:I selected Unbound Horizons - Wing series (2018-2025) because
it beautifully exemplifies the dialogue between traditional craftsmanship
and contemporary interactive design. Created by world-renowned glass Maest
ro Lino Tagliapietra, this installation brings together over 70 years of a
rtistic mastery with a subtle technological layer, offering a contemplativ
e experience that honors both the artist’s legacy and the exhibition’s foc
us on movement, nature, and innovation. Unbound Horizons - Wing series (20
18-2025) is composed of twelve glass seagull sculptures animated by progr
ammed light patterns inspired by the natural murmuration of birds. As the
light flows rhythmically across the work, it creates the illusion of motio
n and transformation—offering a sensory encounter that evolves across time
and space. The piece subtly incorporates interactivity and environmental
responsiveness, merging ancient techniques from Venice with digital choreo
graphy.\n\nFor the SIGGRAPH community, this work is a powerful reminder th
at innovation can emerge not only from software but also from material exc
ellence and long-term artistic vision. Tagliapietra’s collaboration with i
nteractive design brings a poetic dimension to digital art, demonstrating
how traditional forms can participate meaningfully in technologically medi
 ated spaces.\n\nFrancesca Franco\n\nUnbound Horizons – Wing Series\n\nUnbo
und Horizons – Wing Series (2018–2025, glass sculpture, programmed light i
nstallation) is an interactive installation composed of 12 glass seagull s
culptures. The work evokes the fluid, collective motion of birds in flight
through shifting patterns of light that animate the sculpture...\n\n\nLin
