SUMMARY:Workshop: Town Hall: Gaussian Splats - Ready for Standardization
DESCRIPTION:Neil Trevett (Metaverse Standards Forum, NVIDIA); Patrick Cozz
i (Bentley Systems); Michael Rubloff (Radiance Fields); Jason Sobotka and
Adam Morris (Cesium, Bentley); Tam Belayneh (ESRI); Cedric Guillemet (Micr
osoft); AJ Chavar (NY Times); Nick Schneider (NVIDIA); Nemanja Bartolovic
(Institution Jason Moore Productions / The MetaMovie); and Christoph Lassn
er and Andreas Sundquist (Simiosys Real World Labs)\n\nGaussian splats are
a rapidly emerging method for the fast and efficient creation of photorea
listic 3D visualizations, and is particularly suitable for real-time appli
cations. Today, a growing number of software solutions support the capture
, visualization, editing, and compression of Gaussian splats. However, as
different companies adopt varying formats, the risk of ecosystem fragmenta
tion becomes a possibility.\n\nIn this 90-minute Frontier Workshop we will
discuss the current technologies, formats, and use cases and investigate
the potential for standardization to enable interoperability and sustainab
le growth. \n\nThe workshop will cover: \n- A Gaussian Splats 101\n- Using
Gaussian Splats for Digital Twins\n- The state of Gaussian Splats on the
Web\n- Community engagement via a Panel Discussion\n\nBy fostering collabo
ration among users, tool developers, and engine vendors, this workshop see
ks to guide the evolution of Gaussian splat interoperability and help remo
ve pain points, drive adoption and prevent fragmentation\n\nRecording: Not
Livestreamed, Not Recorded\n\nRegistration Category: Full Conference, Exp
 erience\n\n
