Creating a 2D Data Format Capable of Handling Complex Transparencies
SessionPainting the Wild Robot
DescriptionThe Wild Robot used a painterly style that utilized transparency, soft edges, and smearing of assets. Traditional flat data channels were not able to capture non-binary transparency, making compositing difficult. We present Crypto-Deep data, an extension to Cryptomatte that stores layered geometric data needed to address compositing artifacts with transparency.
