Thecla Schiphorst (PhD), Director & Professor, Simon Fraser University, School of Interactive Arts & Technology. Thecla’s background in dance and computing form the basis for her research in embodied interaction, focusing on movement knowledge representation and the aesthetics of interaction. Her media art installations have exhibited internationally including Ars Electronica, Siggraph, Wexner, and the London ICA. Thecla directed the whisper[s] wearables research group, and MovingStories: Digital Tools for Movement, Meaning and Interaction. She is a member of the LifeForms/DanceForms team and collaborated with Merce Cunningham. Thecla has an Interdisciplinary MA (Dance and Computer Science, SFU), and a PhD (Computing, Plymouth).
