Biography
I’m Haojun Huang, an animation director, art director, and multidisciplinary artist with experience across international film, television, fashion, and exhibition design. My work bridges set construction and animated image-making, allowing me to craft emotionally resonant stories grounded in carefully constructed environments.
Born in Southern China in the late 1990s, my practice is shaped by the aesthetics and ideology of my post-socialist upbringing. I’m passionate about research-led storytelling that explores nostalgia, memory, and the search for belonging. My recent 3D animated short End of Summer is an animated memoir exploring identity and queer coming-of-age through reconstructing memories.
Professionally, I’ve worked as a set designer on Power Rangers and contributed to large-scale exhibitions for platforms like Bilibili China. I’ve also collaborated on fine art installations, including Raised up Sky & GROUNDLOOP. These diverse experiences across commercial, cinematic, and artistic contexts continue to inform my multidisciplinary approach to visual storytelling.
